Un día,su gran amigo Rob (Tony Roberts) le presenta a una divertida cantante de un bar nocturno, Annie Hall (Diane Keaton).

Todo parece ir bien hasta que las inseguridades de Alvy llevan a Annie a abandonarle y comenzar una nueva vida junto a su nuevo amante (Paul Simon) en Los Ángeles.
